Hey Pashley Polar Bears!!
Tell us what you liked best about our Get NY Moving Physical Education/Health lesson?
A H U G E thank you to Senator James Tedisco for visiting us, for this special lesson. He participated in our instant activity, helped judge our awesome team activities AND jogged through New York State. Phew! We got a lot out of his stories of his participation in sports. Wow, he was a GREAT basketball player. **And probably still is 🙂
What was your favorite part of this lesson?
Our Pashley PE Word of the Week is M I N D F U L N E S S
This week we will try to…
- LISTEN WITH FULL ATTENTION
- BE AWARE OF OUR SURROUNDINGS
- ACCEPT BY NOT JUDGING
- FOCUS MORE
- BEING PRESENT, IN THE MOMENT
If you had to pick TWO THINGS to be more MINDFUL of, what would they be?
(**maybe it using your senses more…taste, hear, smell, touch)
(**maybe it is being mindful of the people in your life…family, teachers, coaches, bus drivers, pets)
Every year I ask a fitness/nutrition based question to our staff at Pashley. I then create a huge chart for the students to read and interpret. This years question was…
“What is your favorite season to exercise in?”
Pashley students LOVE finding their teachers and learning how they stay active during their favorite season.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SEASON TO EXERCISE IN?
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ACTIVITY TO DO IN THAT SEASON?
Pashley School participated in the American Heart Association’s
“Jump Rope For Heart”
- What was your favorite part about this jump rope activity?
- Was it bringing awareness to heart health?
- Jumping Rope?
- Learning new dances?
- Jumping in memory or in honor of someone?
ALL THE ABOVE??!!
Grateful, Appreciative, Thankful….
*That about sums it up! (math word, lol)
This is my favorite time of the year. The fall weather, warm cider and family gatherings!
I am so grateful for my family, our health, my amazing career and the students and staff that inspire me every day!
WHAT ARE YOU GRATEFUL OR THANKFUL FOR?
HOW DO YOU LET PEOPLE KNOW THAT YOUR ARE GRATEFUL FOR THEM?
We love to invite female role models to join us for Physical Education Class. Today our guest is also a HERO.
New York State Trooper “Mac” talked to us about having our inner voice, being strong on the inside and out, and to pay attention with our senses. She also shared how important FITNESS is to her career!! Trooper Mac is the BEST!!
WHAT DID YOU REMEMBER MOST FROM TROOPER MAC’S VISIT?
Our Pashley Staff Survey is back!!
This year I asked…
“What is Your Favorite Motivational Saying”
Do you see your favorite saying on the bulletin board?
What is Mrs. Ferrie’s favorite saying?
What would be yours?
Positive affirmations is the practice of …positive thinking
Our words are a direct representation of our thoughts. Our thoughts create our feelings. Our feelings create our actions.
And our actions…well, they dictate our life.
What’s more important than our words then?
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE POSITIVE AFFIRMATION?
After last weekend, I know just how STRESS can affect our holiday season.
(I couldn’t find a parking spot at the mall, I was late to my Yoga class, and I couldn’t make it in time to my daughter swim meet)
So, help me make of list of ways to reduce holiday stress. This is my list so far…
1-Make exercise a priority. (Get to a Yoga class on time)
2-Pack and eat extra healthy snacks, to balance the sweet treats (that seem to be everywhere!)
3-Make time to spend with your family. Playing a game or just hang out.
WHAT ELSE CAN WE DO TO MAKE THE HOLIDAY SEASON LESS STRESSFUL?
